Aura EV: UK consortium develops concept car with a 400-mile range

What is the Aura EV?

As an initiative of reducing carbon usage in everyday life, a group of four suppliers in the UK unveiled Aura EV-a a concept car. The fully electric sports car combines several ideas that are in huge demand in the EV market, Moreover, these concepts once made a reality will solve problems and lead to a cleaner and better future. The concept car paves new roads for weight reduction and long driving ranges.

It is funded by the UK office for Zero Emission vehicles, as a part of the Niche Vehicle Network (NVN). The project aims to create optimum efficiency, reduced weight for long-range driving all while making sustainable choices. The NVN project took birth and grew up to potential during the lockdowns implemented due to the pandemic.

The concept car is powered by dual 44kWh battery packs and a rear-wheel-drive motor. Ir also uses wheels with low resistance for reduced friction. Auro EV claimes a magnificent driving range of 400 miles. Additionally, the battery placement optimizes and distributes weight efficiently. It can also reduce drag thanks to its large diffuser and air curtain.

The car was showcased in the CENEX LCV show in UK’s Millbrook Proving Ground. The concept sports car was designed by Astheimer Design using computational dynamics for the ultimate shape. The EV’s appearance is a mix of BAC Mono R and a futuristic Caterham. Moreover, this roof-less car is completely road legal.
