Do you recall when Agnes, the endearing character from Despicable Me, went in search of a unicorn? Even better, she thinks she has discovered one when she comes upon a one-horned goat and mistakenly thinks it is a unicorn. Her fantasy is about to be shattered, but it appears that millions of young girls still hold out hope that they may one day encounter a unicorn.
One of them was prompted by this to go to the effort of obtaining a license to own one. Even the Los Angeles animal control authorities granted the Californian girl permission to own a unicorn.
Madeline, it appears, was aware of how the bureaucracy operated and requested a permit, should she be able to locate one. However, the permit does not make light of it. It demands that Madeline give the unicorn enough of exposure to the sun, moon, and rainbows and give its horn a gentle buff at least once a month.
A heart-shaped, rose-colored metal tag with the words “Permanent Unicorn License” written on it was also sent to Madeline
A heart-shaped, rose-colored metal tag with the words “Permanent Unicorn License” written on it was also sent to her by Director Marcia Mayeda of the county Department of Animal Care and Control. The tag was accompanied by a white fluffy unicorn doll with pink ears, purple hooves, and a silver horn.
Madeline’s letter she wrote last month said, “Dear LA County, I would like your approval if I can have a unicorn in my backyard if I can find one.” Mayeda praised Madeline for her “sense of responsible pet ownership to seek permission in advance”
