Can you imagine a woman breastfeeding a cat? That too on a flight? As bizarre as it may seem, this incident is true. A woman was allegedly seen breastfeeding her pet cat on a plane in front of horrified staff and co-passengers. The unidentified woman began breastfeeding her cat on a Delta Airlines flight from Syracuse. Then from New York to Atlanta, Georgia, according to the New York Post.
An image circulating on social media purports to show a message sent to the ground by flight crew via the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System. According to the message, “a passenger in seat 13A is breastfeeding a cat. And will not put the cat back in the carrier” when a flight attendant requested it. The message also asked that the situation be handled by the airline’s “Red Coat” team upon landing. Delta’s Red Coat team consists of “elite airport customer service experts” who have been “specially trained to handle on-the-fly customer issues.”
Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch
Flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth also discussed the bizarre incident in a TikTok video posted on November 13, according to Newsweek. “This woman had one of those, like, hairless cats swaddled up in a blanket so it looked like a baby,” Ainsley Elizabeth speaks in her video “Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch and she wouldn’t put the cat back in the carrier. And the cat was screaming for its life.”
She went on to say that “security met the flight” and asked her to come to a halt. An aviation enthusiast who spoke with a co-passenger who witnessed the incident posted additional details about the incident on Twitter. Despite the cabin crew’s requests, the woman continued to breastfeed her cat, according to him. Delta Airlines is yet to respond to the incident.
