Watch: Japanese man transforms into ‘dog’ by spending $20K, takes first walk in public

Japanese

A Japanese man who had spent more than $20,000 on a dog costume for himself finally went for a walk and was successful in meeting some canine companions. The man, now known only as Toco, spent a fortune on this hyperrealistic border collie suit to fulfill his lifelong ambition of “becoming an animal.”

Toco was spotted playing on all fours in his garden and performing tricks in exchange for food. He posted these recent updates on his nearly 30,000 subscribers’ YouTube accounts. Toco, though, made her first public appearance in her new look in the most recent update, which showed her going for a walk. Toco was seen enjoying a walk on the streets, sniffing at other dogs in a park, and rolling around on the floor in films posted to his YouTube account with the headline “I Want to Be an Animal.”

Taco’s identity remains anonymous

Toco’s big debut, which was filmed during the production of a program for a German TV station, was well-received by onlookers and other interested dogs. If they realized Toco wasn’t a natural-born canine, it was tough to understand. “I became a collie, fulfilling a dream I had since I was a little child to be an animal!” read the subtitles flashed at the beginning of the video.

Toco revealed through a series of written letters translated from Japanese on his YouTube channel, “Nice to meet you. I became a rough (sic) collie because I wanted to be an animal … Please let me know your request for the video you would like to see in the comments!”

Toco explained that he has kept his human identity hidden because he does not want those who know him to condemn him for his new appearance.

“I don’t want my hobbies to be known, especially by the people I work with. They think it’s weird that I want to be a dog. For the same reason why I can’t show my real face,” he said while speaking to the Daily Mail last year.

“I rarely tell my friends because I am afraid they will think I am weird,” the man said in a separate interview with the Mirror. “My friends and family seemed very surprised to learn I became an animal,” he added.

“I wanted to be a dog and walk outside”

The man stated that he felt “nervous and a little scared” on his first outside walk in his backyard in September. “I’m very nervous. Do you remember your dreams from when you are little? You want to be a hero or a wizard. I remember writing in my grade school graduation book that I wanted to be a dog and walk outside,” he said in the video.

Zeppet, a Japanese business that makes costumes for TV commercials and films, had spent roughly 40 days creating Toco’s $22,000 ensemble. According to a business spokeswoman, “modeled after a collie dog, it reproduces the appearance of a real dog walking on four legs.” You can now contribute to wionews.com and become a member of the community.
