A drone pilot from New Jersey has reported that his device lost power and had to descend from restricted airspace, while the unidentified drone he was trying to investigate remained airborne despite an attempt to disable it. Michael B, a paranormal investigator and podcaster behind the YouTube channel Terror Talk Productions, was investigating what he thought was another drone when his own malfunctioned. In an interview with FOX 5 New York, he explained, “There was a drone just hanging out. I had full battery life. Not 3 minutes into the flight, I lost control of the drone.”
Michael B. further explained that while flying his drone near Picatinny Arsenal, a warning appeared on his screen, followed by a sudden battery failure. “The drone started descending—dead battery,” he said. Despite his drone falling, the unidentified object he was investigating remained airborne, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident.
While it’s typical for GPS-enabled drones to be grounded or forced to land when entering restricted airspace, the specifics of the unidentified drone’s behavior remain unclear. New Jersey State Senator Joe Pennacchio has escalated the issue, calling for a federal investigation and even dispatching a letter to President-elect Donald Trump expressing frustration over the lack of conclusive information.
Laura Ballman, a former CIA operations officer, offered a provocative theory during a Fox News Live segment. She suggested that the unidentified drones might be part of a clandestine technological test focused on detection capabilities or evasion techniques.

John Kirby, White House national security communications adviser, provided a measured response. “Upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully,” he stated, attempting to temper public speculation.
