Dynus Saxon, a 20-year-old model who has graced the pages of Vogue, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and weapon possession following the fatal stabbing of 35-year-old Kadeem Grant. The incident took place in a Bronx apartment complex on Sunday, November 10, according to reports by DailyMail.com.
Witnesses reported hearing a violent altercation just before the tragic incident unfolded. A neighbor who overheard the struggle told the New York Daily News, “I heard them fighting. No words, just banging in the hallway. It was fast. It wasn’t like they were fighting for a long time.” The neighbor quickly called 911, but Grant succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Victim remembered as loving father
Kadeem Grant, a Brooklyn resident, was reportedly visiting a friend when the fatal encounter occurred. His father, Christopher Grant, described him as a loving individual dedicated to his family, particularly his three-year-old daughter. “He was just a loving kid who was there for his family and his daughter. It’s just so sad that she has to grow up without a father,” Christopher shared.
Struggling with grief, Christopher added, “He cared for people, looking after his grandma because most of us are not there in New York. Kadeem was a kid—you needed him and he was there for you. I’m still trying to process it. Until I see him, I won’t believe it.”
Arrest and hospitalization of Dynus Saxon
Dynus Saxon was taken into custody on Monday, November 11, but was subsequently hospitalized. His mother, who spoke to the press, expressed disbelief over the allegations, suggesting there is more to the story. “I don’t know what happened, but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it. Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody,” she said.
She also noted that her son has no memory of the incident and insisted that Saxon would only act in self-defense. “Dynus will protect himself—he’s a human being, you know what I’m saying. He’s young. I don’t know what kind of situation he got himself into. He’ll dance, he’ll have fun under some circumstances, but he’s really not an aggressor,” she added. “Whatever happened, it was not murder.”
Dynus Saxon had previously modeled for prominent fashion campaigns, appearing in Vogue Italia and working with brands such as Levi’s, Calvin Klein, and JD Sports. He was also seen on the red carpet for major movie premieres, including Deadpool & Wolverine and The Batman.
However, according to his mother, Dynus Saxon had not booked any modeling work for the past six months. During his time off, he often walked around the city and skateboarded.
