Were there little green men in your life? Have you ever encountered a UFO? If so, you may soon be able to report such a (mis)hap to the US Pentagon online.
This might be accomplished through an online reporting mechanism that went live on Tuesday (October 31). There is, however, a catch.
Terms and conditions for reporting aliens
For the time being, this secure form is only available to current or former federal employees, or individuals “with direct knowledge of US government programs or activities related to UAP dating back to 1945,” according to The Guardian.
The form is called the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (Aaro), and it is available on the Pentagon website to those having the aforementioned access.
Officials have reportedly stated that the public will soon be able to report such irregularities.
Aaro “is intended as an initial point of contact… it is not intended for conveying potentially sensitive or classified information,” according to the website.
Sean Kirkpatrick, the director of Aaro, told reporters that first-hand knowledge of sensitive matters such as the government’s involvement in UAP programs is appreciated.
Second-hand information concerning UAP, extraterrestrial contacts, and so forth, on the other hand, is not acceptable.
“This reporting mechanism that is on the website is for people who think they have first-hand knowledge of clandestine programs that the government has been hiding,” said Kirkpatrick.
The United States government is finally ‘opening up’
The action is an outgrowth of the US government’s efforts to be more public about its research of the unknown, according to The Guardian.
It indicates that the government is gradually moving closer to fulfilling its pledges of complete transparency about what it knows and doesn’t know, about weird occurrences like strange flashes in the sky, the possibility of alien life, and sightings of UFOs or UAPs as they are now known.
For decades, conspiracy theories regarding covert government programs involving reports of alien vehicles and remains at Area 51 in the Mojave Desert have been a source of intrigue.
However, as per the Aaro chief, people might be disappointed as they currently have “no evidence of any program having ever existed to do any sort of reverse engineering, of any sort of extraterrestrial UAP program.”
