A Georgia grandmother had a miraculous escape after Hurricane Helene sent a massive tree crashing into her bedroom, destroying everything except for one item: her Bible. Cindy Cole, 62, was lying in bed at her home in Nashville, Georgia, on September 26 when she heard what she describes as a ” divine voice” urging her to leave the room. Minutes later, a tree smashed through the wall, landing exactly where she had been sleeping.
“It was like a divine intervention,” Cole told reporters. “I woke up when the power went out and heard a voice telling me to get up and go to another part of the house.”

Initially ignoring the voice, she stayed in bed. But after hearing the message repeatedly, she finally heeded the warning and moved to a different room. “It wasn’t five minutes after I left that the tree came crashing into the bedroom, right onto my bed,” she said.
Upon returning to survey the wreckage, Cole noticed her Bible, untouched and still standing upright on her nightstand amid the debris. “When I first saw the Bible, I couldn’t believe it. Everything else was destroyed, but the Bible was still there,” she recalled. “You cannot touch the word of the Lord.”
The devastating hurricane, which claimed the lives of 180 people and affected several states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia, left Cole counting her blessings. “I believe it was the Lord telling me to move,” she said, adding that she had been praying for protection throughout the ordeal. In the face of destruction, Cole remains grateful for her escape, crediting her faith for guiding her to safety in the nick of time.
