Modi 3.0 cabinet: Who is in, who is out, and possible new faces—all you need to know

Indian Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi hosted a tea meeting at his residence on Sunday, attended by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders. The gathering offered hints about the composition of the upcoming cabinet, with notable absences such as Smriti Irani, who recently lost the Lok Sabha election from Amethi.

Who is not in Modi 3.0 cabinet?

Prominent BJP leaders, including Anurag Thakur and Narayan Rane, were also missing despite their electoral victories in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur and Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, respectively. Reports suggest that Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Narayan Rane, Bharti Pawar, and Raosaheb Danve are also likely to be excluded from the Modi 3.0 cabinet.

New faces expected in Modi 3.0 cabinet

While some leaders face exclusion, several BJP leaders are expected to join the Modi 3.0 cabinet, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, and Nitin Gadkari. Additionally, NDA leaders such as HD Kumaraswamy and Jayant Chaudhary will be included. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has confirmed two ministers for the new cabinet.

New inductees in the Union Council of Ministers

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai is anticipated to be inducted as Minister of State, despite losing the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency to DMK’s Ganapathy Rajkumar P by a margin of 1,18,068 votes. Other potential additions to the cabinet include Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Ravneet Singh Bittu.

Modi will take the oath as prime minister of India on Sunday at 7:15 PM.
