In an extraordinary rescue operation that gripped Italy, 32-year-old speleologist Ottavia Piana was successfully rescued from the perilous Abisso Bueno Fonteno cave network after being trapped for more than three days. Piana’s ordeal came to an end just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday after a 75-hour struggle that began with an eight-meter fall inside the complex cave system.
