TikTok is full of bizarre trends, and marinated diet coke is the latest. It all began when TikToker @hauskris stated that nothing beats marinated diet coke. The video was first shared on TikTok in September.
For the uninitiated, marinating is the process of soaking a piece of meat in a mixture of spices, oil, or yogurt for a set period of time. It is believed that this process aids in flavor absorption and enhancement.
However, marinating Diet Coke appears to be quite perplexing. To be honest, the idea of soaking coke in spices is far too bizarre. So, what does this new trend imply?
Kristen, also known as @hauskris, considers drinking Diet Coke to be an art form as well as a pastime. She posted a TikTok video showing her unique way of enjoying a midday coke break, which is enhanced after the beverage has been left to “marinate” in the refrigerator for a few days.
In this case, “marinating” simply means putting the cans in the fridge and letting them sit for a few days; the longer, the better.
In the video, she can be heard saying:
“I have been marinating my Diet Coke in my fridge for 10 days.”
She then combined a packet of lime juice and an almost two-week-old can of ice-cold water. She also suggested using pebble ice in the cup and adding a frozen lime slice to the mixture for the ultimate soda flavor.
