Sean "Diddy" Combs seen walking to courthouse in prison clothes

In a scene reminiscent of a courtroom drama, Sean “Diddy” Combs entered the Manhattan federal courthouse dressed in prison attire, hand in hand with his family, including his mother and children. The music icon is currently facing serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and sexual assault.

His trial has been scheduled for May 2025, and prosecutors have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Diddy, 53, is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a notorious facility that has housed high-profile inmates and has been marred by a series of troubling incidents, including suicides and murders.

Due to concerns for his safety, Diddy has been placed on suicide watch and has reportedly refused to eat at the facility, fearing he might be poisoned. He has requested permission to bring food from home, but the court has yet to grant this request. Despite these challenges, his legal team maintains that Diddy remains determined to fight the charges. “He’s not losing hope and wants to get on the stand to tell his side of the story,” said his attorney.

Court sets the trial of Diddy for May 2025

Judge Arun Subramanian, the first Indian American to serve on Manhattan’s Federal District Court, set May 5, 2025, as the start date for the high-profile trial. In addition to the trafficking charges, prosecutors have accused Diddy of using threats, violence, and secretly recorded videos of private encounters to pressure victims into continued abuse.

Federal prosecutors have informed the court that they have obtained several videotapes from Diddy’s collection, with Emily Johnson, the lead prosecutor, suggesting that more charges are likely as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, Diddy’s legal team has filed for bail for the third time, seeking his pretrial release. They have also accused the government of leaking a video of the alleged assault of singer Cassie, claiming the release was motivated by personal animosity rather than any legitimate legal reasoning. As the trial approaches, Diddy remains calm, leaning on the support of his family as he faces the most serious legal battle of his career.
