Ford has announced a major recall of around 456,000 cars, including the 2022–2023 Maverick pickup trucks and the 2021–2024 Bronco Sport SUVs.
The company stated that the automobiles pose a power loss risk, asking drivers to comply with the recall due to the likelihood that the engine will lose power while driving.
According to Consumer Reports, a power outage while operating the vehicles might result in major safety hazards, such as drivers being unable to keep up with fast-moving traffic, which could lead to a crash.
According to consumer complaints, there have been 917 warranty claims, but no confirmed injuries or crashes related to the recall.
In a recall report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that an insufficient calibration approach for identifying rapid battery degradation could be part of the problem.
Customers are advised to bring their vehicles to a dealer for a free recalibration of the vehicles affected by the recall. A Ford representative told The Associated Press that no software update was available as of Wednesday.
